Sailing Report
High pressure, no wind, no sailing on Saturday. And on Sunday? Thick mist and no wind in the morning. With very little prospect of the wind building, cheerful but disappointed sailors enjoyed bacon butties and a catch up after the Christmas period, welcomed our Frostbite members and then headed off to use the day for other things. A few of the committee took the opportunity to clear out the Office adjacent to the training room – thank you. Five boats took to the water just before 1PM, encouraged by a zephyr at midday, for 2 drifty races back to back.
Meanwhile the young Feva sailors with their coach, Bryony Bennett–Lloyd (ex 420 national champion), maintained their enthusiasm and high spirits through the shore based activities Bryony had up her sleeve – they did drift about a bit in the afternoon, practising light wind sailing no doubt!
A lovely morning on Wednesday, no sign of the forecast strong breeze, in fact the lake was glassy until late morning. The breeze gradually built leading to some good sailing and then some very strong shifty gusts arrived providing a bit of capsize practice for a couple of us. The mud on the top of my mast evidence that the water levels are still quite low!

Your Help Needed
Working party – Saturday 21st January, 10am, organised by Allen Marsh, our tireless dinghy park manager. Warm up, meet some different people, get some exercise. Help stop part of the southern section of the dinghy park falling into the lake. We need helpers to re-organise the rocks on the shore (many have tumbled down) and make the space properly usable again. Please bring a strong pair of gloves. Volunteer now – contact Helen Martin.
