Seasons greetings
On behalf of the Directors, Flag Officers and Committees I wanted to wish you all a very happy Christmas and a calm and peaceful New Year.
Why not come to the club on Boxing Day for the Tap Trophy Race, start time 1.30pm, everyone is welcome. If it isn’t your sort of sailing weather then come to the club anyway, go for a bracing walk then join the jolly throng for mulled wine and, maybe, yet another mince pie. Tea and coffee also available of course.
Usual sailing arrangements on 28th and 29th December and then another gathering on New Year’s Day- Resolution Trophy, 1.30pm.
Brief update
You will have noticed through this year improvement on the clubhouse, around the grounds, to the Committee boat and rescue boats; all part of our programme ongoing maintenance and improvement. The Finance Committee meets in January to consider the funding of continuing and new projects for 2020-2021 and beyond.
What is happening with the lift?
A number of members have been asking about it. A long term solution for the access lift is essential We gave a progress report in the reports to the AGM and at the AGM. Since then further research and discussion has taken place- thank you to everyone involved. The General Committee commissioned a professional access report from Mitchell Eley Gould to assess all the options. Their recommendation is to replace the existing lift and to build an enclosure to prevent the problems resulting from exposure to the weather. Detailed specification and costing is now being prepared with a view to work being completed in the spring. (N.B. A copy of the report is available on the noticeboard at the club.)
Please do get in touch directly with me or Mike (Rear-Commodore) if you have any questions.
With very best wishes for great sailing in 2020.
