Do you know this man?
From the Commodore about last weekend:
Well that was just the most amazing weekend at the club with the family regatta, evening celebrations with All You Need Is The Beatles followed by a late night jam session with Bonesy M and The Commodores, then a full Sunday of sailing. Many thanks to all of those involved in the organisation and assembly of the events and also to all those who chipped in to help on the day. The whole weekend was a reflection of what the club is about with friendship, fun and sport for everyone. Thank you all.
Sailing Report – Helen Martin, Vice Commodore
There were lots of boats on the water on Saturday morning. As the sun came out, over 20 set off round the island, well decorated and dressed with flags and bunting.
A special well-done to the three Optimists and the two Challengers for making it through weed and the wind shadow. Sadly there wasn’t quite enough depth for the Flying Fifteens but they had their own race, twice around all the numbered marks.
A lively breeze picked up in the afternoon for more general sailing and the voyage to Denny Harbour. From veteran pirate Hugh Whatley……
“The Denny Island Ferry took about 80 passengers and I parked about 20 boats, so well over 100 people visited the Island and looked for treasure.” Thank you to “Master Pirates” Hugh, Mike, Judith, Jeff and Dave.
PLEASE NOTE – we will be seeking apprentice master pirates next year to help set up and to ensure this very special Chew activity continues to happen.
AND we must give a very special thank you to the duty team on a long and tiring day – you did a fabulous job of keeping tabs on everyone.
On Sunday the sun shone again. The light breeze led to an hour’s postponement for the morning race. In the afternoon interesting / annoying fickle breeze, depending on your perspective, settled a bit better for the afternoon pursuit and was very pleasant for the cruising sailors. Great to see the Feva sailors joining in with so much enthusiasm and the FF lady crews taking the helm in the afternoon.
