Membership renewals move into the 21st Century!
Membership renewals this year will be handled through an online system called WebCollect. This system will be familiar to those people who have used it to sign up for events at other sailing clubs.
The membership year runs from 1st April to 31st March. You will be able to renew your membership into the new entity Chew Valley Lake Sailing Club Limited from 1st March. An account will have been set up for you in advance so look out for an email after 1st March with a link to the system and your login details.
Why have we moved to an online system? It offers benefits to club members who can easily edit their own information online to make sure it is up to date and it facilitates easier payments via bank transfer or by direct debit. It also significantly reduces the workload for those who have to administer membership, particularly the membership secretary, treasurer and IT support. New members will be able to apply online to join the club, simplifying and speeding up the process.
The club will also use the system to handle bookings for courses, social events and open meetings, again reducing the work load for those involved in the organisation of these tasks.
We are currently transferring club records across to the new system. Inevitably there are anomalies in the data which may work through to individual accounts, so please check your online data very carefully when the time comes.
If you have changed your email address since the last renewal and have not notified the membership secretary please do so now. (The email newsletter runs from a separate system; because you receive this email doesn’t mean the club has an up to date record of your email address.)
We appreciate that a few club members may need some assistance, or just have questions so we will be running a help desk in the clubhouse on selected days in March.
We’ll be sending emails with further information later this month… watch this space!
In the meantime, if you have any questions please email the membership secretary.
