Bart’s Bash
This coming Sunday the club hosts the fourth international Bart’s Bash charity race raising money for the Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation which this year is supporting sailing clubs adversely affected by Hurricane Irma.
Ideally you should sign up in advance of the event using the links below to the Bart’s Bash website and on your club WebCollect account to make the suggested £5 donation – and to streamline the admin and results on the day.
There are currently 587 clubs worldwide involved and 79 countries, which is similar to last year when we were in the top 5 for participation and fund raising and so help us do it again and get involved now. It will be an amazing day and a unique opportunity to be involved in a truly international event and you don’t need to be a racer. I am hoping that those on the current RYA courses will join the race and they have only been sailing a matter of weeks.
We will soon be announcing our guest of honour for the forthcoming anniversary dinner, someone closely linked to the Barts Bash event and the Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation and so let’s do something special again to support the charity and have an amazing day.
Those of you awake at 8.15am on Saturday might like to listen to me talking to Ali Vowles on BBC Radio Bristol about the event and the charity.
